Introduction:

The Interfaith Families Project (IFFP) recently celebrated its 29th year with a renewed commitment to fostering understanding and unity among diverse faith traditions. As we reflect on the events and achievements of the past year, we are pleased to present the highlights from our 2022-2023 Annual Report, showcasing our efforts in promoting inclusivity and bridging divides in our community and beyond.

Embracing Diversity and Love:

With the resumption of in-person gatherings and an expanded virtual presence, IFFP broadened its reach across the United States, Canada, and globally, exemplifying the transformative power of acceptance and love. Our exploration of the theme “What is Love?” underscored the pivotal role of an interfaith community in fostering mutual respect and understanding.

The Journey of IFFP:

Established in 1995, the Interfaith Families Project of Greater Washington (IFFP) has consistently upheld the ethos of shared learning and celebration of both Jewish and Christian traditions. Functioning as a space where diverse beliefs are respected without imposition, IFFP continues to emphasize education, fellowship, and community service, encouraging open dialogue and the exploration of interfaith identities.

Active Participation and Engagement:

Throughout the fiscal year, IFFP experienced a surge in community engagement, welcoming new interfaith families and witnessing active participation in various events and programs. Notable highlights include an array of gatherings, spiritual ceremonies, and educational workshops that brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups.

Nurturing the Next Generation:

A cornerstone of IFFP’s initiatives remains its inclusive Sunday School, providing children with a holistic understanding of religious identities. The two-year Coming of Age Program stands out as a comprehensive platform for students to delve into critical questions, fostering a deeper understanding of their faith identities.

Commitment to Learning:

In alignment with our commitment to lifelong learning, IFFP’s Adult Education program hosted thought-provoking discussions led by distinguished speakers, providing an enriching space for engaging dialogue and intellectual growth.

Promoting Care and Support:

Emphasizing the importance of community support, the establishment of the IFFP Care Team offered a platform for members to extend care and assistance during challenging times. Additionally, the facilitation of interfaith marriage services and other ceremonies reinforced IFFP’s commitment to inclusivity and celebration of life milestones.

Making a Difference in the World:

IFFP’s dedication to Tikkun Olam and community service was evident through various initiatives, including active participation in racial justice, environmental conservation, and refugee assistance programs. The involvement of members in charitable endeavors and community outreach projects underscored the collective effort to create a positive impact on society.

Looking Ahead:

As IFFP embarks on a new year, the theme “Our Living Stories” promises an exciting exploration of the diverse narratives that shape our collective identity. With an invitation to reflect on personal stories and shared experiences, the upcoming year holds the promise of deeper connections and a greater sense of unity within the community.

Conclusion:

The 2022-2023 Annual Report stands as a testament to IFFP’s unwavering commitment to fostering understanding, compassion, and unity within the interfaith community. As we look forward to the journey ahead, we remain dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where diversity is celebrated and mutual respect thrives.
